A modern AU spinoff.

  

Under the visionary leadership of Professor Donquixote Doflamingo, Dressrosa Hospital has emerged as a leading institution in medical research, with its cohort of doctors regularly developing groundbreaking surgical techniques complemented by their unique Devil Fruit abilities.

....in reality, however, the hospital's prestige rests on an elaborate mountain of lies. The Surgery Department in particular is rife with corruption, staffed by nepo hires whose Devil Fruit-assisted "techniques" serve as nothing more than insubstantial gimmicks to draw popular appeal.

As things stand right now, the hospital's success hangs solely at the mercy of the one individual competent enough to cover for everyone's mistakes. Indeed, Trafalgar Law's skill with the scalpel is unquestionable... but his arrogance and misanthropic tendencies regularly puts him at odds with his colleagues and drives away prospective patients.

The situation is tenuous, and Doflamingo needs a solution... fast.

Luckily, he's sure he's found one in the form of one Murasaki Arisa, Dressrosa Hospital's newly minted clinical trial coordinator.

Also... fist fights.  You wouldn't think so given the nature of this AU, but yes.  Lots and lots of fist fights... because I wanted to see if I could convincingly write delinquent!Law.  Please advise accordingly!

So uh... welcome to my untimely return to modern AUs and very first attempt at a romcom!  Literally came up with the concept over the weekend while listening to Sabrina Carpenter's Please Please Please on repeat and it just wouldn't leave my mind....so here we are T-T

We will mostly be dealing with One Piece characters from Dressrosa for the main cast, though I plan on having one-off appearances from other canon characters.   I do have an overarching plot in mind, but have not planned all the medical cases.  So if you have any suggestions for surgeries and/or OP characters you wanna see as patients, please let me know!  I am starved of ideas atm haha.

Let me just say I am very excited to write Law here, because he will be quite a bit different from my depiction of him in the canon One Piece storyline.  This version of him stayed with the Donquixote Family, so he def will have more of an attitude problem (again... delinquent) & be more short-tempered/impulsive - he would have had to put up with Trebol, Diamante & Vergo for several years after all 💀💀💀

Still, even with these changes I wanna see if I can keep the essence of his personality as much as possible.  So please let me know if you have any feedback, as I'd really be curious to know what works and what doesn't :3
